Chemistry

Chemistry

Chemistry is available to both year 12 (NCEA level 2) and year 13 (NCEA level 3) students. The prerequisite for year 12 Chemistry is NCEA level 1 General Science or Chemistry. The prerequisite for year 13 Chemistry is NCEA level 2 Chemistry.

Both Chemistry courses have a laboratory based practical component, which is internally assessed. The students are given preparation to sit external exams for the rest of their credits. Both courses can contribute 24 credits towards the National Certificate of Educational Achievement.

Course content is subject to review by both the Ministry of Education and Chanel College . The table below shows the 2005 courses. The current prospectus should be checked for any changes.
