In Year 9 all students follow the Numeracy Project to ensure a basic understanding of Mathematical concepts.
In Year 10 the students will follow schemes to enable them to sit Unit Standards in Basic Numeracy. The standards available include: Algebra, Number, Statistics, Geometry, Trigonometry and Probability.
Year 11 Mathematics students follow the NCEA syllabus which covers 9 topics, 3 of which are assessed internally. The topics covered include: Algebra (3 credits), Graphs (3 credits), Measurement (4 credits), Geometric Drawing (2 credits), Statistics (3 credits), Probability (2 credits), Number (3 credits), Trigonometry (2 credits) and Geometric Reasoning (2 credits). Unit Standards are also offered.
Year 12 Mathematics students also follow the NCEA syllabus covering topics such as Algebra, Graphs, Calculus, Co-Ordinate Geometry, Statistics, Probability, Sequences, Practical Trigonometry and Trigonometrical Equations.
Mathematics is taught as a whole subject up to Year 13 when students may choose to specialise in certain aspects of mathematics.
This subject area covers the following aspects; Differentiation, Integration, Trigonometry, Complex Equations and Conic Sections
Time Series, Sample Statistics, Probability, Equations, Statistical Investigation, Probability Distributions and Modelling are the topics covered in this subject.
